Mistletoe Cancer Therapy
Mistletoe has been used in Germany and Switzerland in the treatment of cancer for 90 years. About 30,000 patients have been treated with mistletoe at the Lucas Clinic in Arlesheim, Switzerland. About half the physicians practicing in Germany now use mistletoe as adjunct therapy. Many studies have tracked good results experienced by patients that confirm its anti-tumor effect. One of the primary functions of mistletoe is to stimulate parts of the immune system which can slow the growth of cancer cells. Mistletoe is known for having very few side effects. For this reason it is often used in conjunction with conventional therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Besides its effect on the actual tumor, mistletoe has other positive aspects which support an integrative approach to cancer treatment. Many patients report an improved quality of life, feeling more positive and in need of less pain relief. Mistletoe is available only by doctor’s prescription.
