Dr. Hesse practices general primary medicine including pediatrics, geriatrics, psychiatry, care of acute and chronic illness as well as constitutional care. He is board certified by the American College of Anthroposophic Medicine.
Born in 1950, Dr. Hesse spent his youth in a small town in western New York.  After attending the Eastman School of Music, he spent six years gaining life experience with special-needs individuals and elder care at Camphill Village in Copake, N.Y. and the Fellowship Community in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y. This led to pre-medical education at Oberlin College and medical studies at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.  Post-graduate medical training at Albany Medical Center included internal medicine, neurology and psychiatry.  Subsequently, he worked as a physician in a New York State maximum security prison and as staff psychiatrist and deputy clinical director at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Hospital.  Further post-graduate training in anthroposophic medicine at the Lukas Clinic in Arlesheim, Switzerland followed. He then participated in research with the Copper Chloride Blood Crystallization diagnostic method at the Natural Science Section of the Goetheanum, Dornach, Switzerland.  

 




As General Practice Manager of Michael Community Therapeutics, Caryn directs the Parent Counseling and Remedial Education Support workshops. She also administers the Oil Dispersion Baths, a therapeutic technique which she learned from its originator, Werner Junge. For 25 years Caryn was a caregiver and administrator at the Fellowship Community and administered many therapeutic baths. She also helped to develop the Child Garden Group, an educational program for children of all ages which included a Waldorf Kindergarten.  Caryn has worked for years with children who have challenges in the orthodox classroom setting by providing, in collaboration with the child’s school, alternative educational settings utilizing drama, farming and elder care as a foundation for learning. She has a Master’s degree in Waldorf Education and is a certified Waldorf Teacher.  Her educational background also includes nursing, as well as English literature and theater arts.
